Feedback Is Important
We want the 625 Squadron Website to be the best that it can be. The undertaking to develop a "full blown" website like this is a daunting challenge. A fulsome website with comprehensive content will take time, perhaps years of effort.
Some Context
625 Squadron was formed on October 1, 1943. Thousands of personnel from many countries came to be assigned to the Squadron that was physically located at Kelstern, Lincolnshire, in the area sometimes referred to as "Bomber Country".
Lancaster bombers were initially assigned to and flown into the station. Ground crew repaired and serviced them, bombs were delivered to the bomb depots near the runways and sorties were flown. Administrative and support personnel managed the fuel supply, prepared and maintained operational records and cooked meals for personnel on the station.
Air crews returned safely or were injured or did not return at all, some crew members' bodies were recovered, some were not recovered, some personnel were taken as prisoners of war and approximately 40% of the air crews went on to be discharged at the end of the war.
Fast forward to 2023, eighty years since the formation of the Squadron and there is a continuing desire and duty to ensure that these brave men and women that served in 625 Squadron are remembered and honored.
It's strange, but the building of a squadron website can be likened to the design of a "data model" consisting of table structures, record structures and the handling of unstructured information. Some of the tables may be mutually exclusive but most will need to be related to each other with inter-dependencies so that the data can be queried to produce reports and visualizations that are of use and interest to users of the website.
The reason for this discussion is to provide a backdrop to the surveys that are available to visitors to the website so that they can provide general feedback to the Website Team and specific feedback about how the areas of the website should be prioritized.
