Venn Williams was born 20 May 1921 at Miles, Queensland, Australia.  Son of Harry Ross Williams and Mary Ivy Elsie Willims (née Shaw).  Siblings Cliff (born 1922), Keith, Derek & Maida.

RAF Service Number 436299  (Royal Australian Air Force service number 5862)

Cliff Williams also served with Bomber Command, piloting Lancasters.  After the conclusion of the European conflict, both Venn and Cliff served in Japan flying Mustangs.  Cliff was killed in a Mustang on training exercise in Western Australia in 1950.

Enlisted Australian Military Forces, Private NX88069 4 Infantry Battalion AMF,10 February 1942.  Discharged 3 December 1942.

His enlistment documents state that his occupation on enlistment was jackaroo.  (Definition: A young man working on a sheep or cattle station to gain experience).  

Enlisted Royal Australian Air Force, Flight Sergeant 05862 3 December 1942, discharged Flight Lieutenant 22 September 1955.

Venn Williams served at RAF No. 21 Operational Training Unit Moreton in Marsh from 12 September 1944 to 12 February 1945 flying 121.30 hours on Wellingtons.

Served at RAF No 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit Lindholme from 28 February 1945 to 9 April 1945.accumulating 55.30 hours on Lancaster Bombers.

Posted to 625 RAF Scampton on 9 April 1945 until 27 June 1945 during which he flew seven sorties..
