625 Squadron Personnel
The Squadron personnel included administrative staff, air crew, station commanders and ground crew. Each of the individuals assigned to 625 Squadron at the Kelstern station served an important role in the objectives and tasks that were assigned to this part of Bomber Command.
The station at Kelstern saw thousands of personnel come and go during the period that the station was operational.
Some personnel came to the station and remained there during the entire time that the station was functional. Some were transferred to other stations and squadrons, many were killed, some were captured as POW's and in some cases, escaped, while some evaded ("Evaders") capture. Some were discharged due to injuries and those who were fortunate to complete their tour(s) of duty were discharged when the war ended.
The air crew members that were officially declared as Killed In Action (KIA) are buried in military or civilian cemeteries around the world, while air crew members that were regarded as Missing In Action (MIA), now classified as KIA, because their remains were never recovered, are commemorated on various memorials around the world.
