F/Sgt Lloyd George Anderson (RCAF) of Squadron Leader Thomas Musgrove Nicholl's crew was one of three sons of William Boyd Anderson and Dagnie A. Anderson, of Craigmyle, Alberta, Canada.
Lloyd George had two brothers, F/Sgt James Sangster Anderson (RCAF) and F/O William Boyd Anderson (RCAF). James and William were twins and they were born on July 27, 1920.
James was killed on October 14, 1942 and William was killed on January 20, 1943.
Prior to Lloyd George being deployed overseas, his father wrote to the Canadian Secretary of National Defence requesting that his last son not be sent overseas. His request was rejected.
Following Lloyd George's deployment overseas, Mr. Anderson again wrote to the Canadian Secretary for National Defence requesting the his son, Lloyd George be repatriated to Canada, while at the same time his wife was ill with grief and anxiety about the loss of her two twin sons and the fact that her mother and sister where in occupied Denmark. Mr. Anderson's request was denied and Lloyd George was killed in March 1944.
The actual date of his death (DOD) is unclear as the IBCC says the DOD is March 30, 1994, Find-A-Grave has his DOD as March 31, 1944, the Canadian Aircraft Serials Personnel Information Resource has the DOD as March 31, 1944, and the DOD in the various documents contained in Lloyd George's RCAF Service Personnel File have different DOD's depending on which document you read. Some have the DOD as March 30, 1944 while some have the DOD as March 31, 1944.
In 1959, the Royal Canadian Legion named Mrs. Dagnie A. Anderson as the Silver Cross Mother in recognition for the loss of her three sons.
