CUNNINGHAM, JAMES ADRIAN P/O(N) J92036//R177884. From Toronto, Ontario. Killed in Action Jul 1/44 age 29. #625 Squadron (We Avenge). Lancaster aircraft #ND 459 crashed near Genouilly during night operations against yierzon Junction, France. Six RAF members of the crew, Sgts J.T. Ash, K.G. Barnett, L.C.B. Ekers, R.P. Gatensbury, F. Meade, and F/O E. Wright D.F.C. were also killed. These seven airmen were all buried in the same collective grave. Pilot Officer Navigator Cunningham was buried at the scene of the crash, exhumed, and reburied in the Communal Cemetery at Genouilly, Cher, France.
